Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) & Theraplay®

If you are on the adoption journey, as a DDP informed practitioner, I can help you support your child in overcoming trauma to strengthen family relationships.

By combining Dramatherapy with Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Theraplay® the focus is on improving attachment and bonding.

  • Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP): DDP differs from traditional non-directive approaches to child therapy in its involvement of the child’s carer throughout the therapy sessions. The primary therapeutic attitude demonstrated throughout the sessions is one of playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy (PACE). More information about DDP can be found at here.

  • Theraplay® is a child and family therapy for building and enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. It is based on the natural patterns of playful, healthy interaction between parent and child and is personal, physical, and fun. Its focus is on four essential qualities found in parent-child relationships: Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge. Learn More.
